HISTORY

70 years REX Holzbearbeitungsmaschinen

  • Today REX Holzbearbeitungsmaschinen employs around 85 employees.
More than 35,000 REX planers are in use worldwide in over 90 countries.

  • In the period from 2010 to 2025, REX engineers will focus on making maintenance and operation as easy as possible for all product ranges and keeping set-up times short. This led to the creation of, among other things, the multi-tool system, in which several tools can be clamped onto one and the same spindle. The SPEEDMASTER and SUPERMASTER HC product ranges were developed as calibration and wood-saving machines. With the SAWMASTER cross-cutting machine for sawmills, new territory was broken.

  • 2009/2010 REX engineers completely revise the SUPERMASTER and BIGMASTER product lines, thus responding to growing customer needs in terms of surface quality and energy efficiency. The innovations included optimised tooling systems, heavier construction, energy-saving inverter technology and beltless drive technology.

  • 2009 the grandsons of company founder Georg Schwarzbeck, Christian and Joachim Schwarzbeck, took over as the third generation of management of the family business. Joachim takes responsibility for sales, Christian directs production.

  • Since 2005, the SWK series have been designed and manufactured at REX tool grinding machines.

  • At the end of the 90s the new SUPER MASTER series was developed. In this regard, the company management restructured its product portfolio in order to obtain a clear and user-friendly mapping. The UNI series became known as the TIMBER MASTER product line and the HOMS series became the BIGMASTER product line.
  • In 1985, the first all-plastic REX planer was developed, the TOPMASTER.

  • In 1984, the UNI product range (later TIMBER MASTER) was developed which has since been continuously adapted to meet the needs of small-scale users.

  • In 1979 the founder Georg Schwarzbeck, who was active in the company until his death, died.

  • In 1975, Hans-Joachim Schwarzbeck took over the management of the company from his father.

  • In 1972 REX developed the world's first multi-side planing machine with constant table height. For this invention REX received utility model protection from the German Patent Office. Since the expiry of the protection period, the constant table principle has become the global standard and is copied by all manufacturers.
HISTORY
  • In the early 70s, still in the time of the Soviet Union, first business contacts were made with Russia.

  • In 1968 the HOMS universal product range (later BIGMASTER) was created, which has been continuously developed and today is one of the best-selling planer machines by REX.

  • In 1964 REX engineers developed the first 4-side planer, a first in the industry. This led to new markets being opened in the areas of glued timber construction, carpentry and sawmills.

  • Due to its proximity to the international port and trading centre of Hamburg, it developed close relationships with overseas customers in the 60's, leading to increasing momentum in exports to distant lands.

  • In the 50s and 60s, mainly modern joinery and carpentry machines were developed and produced in large numbers.

  • In 1946, Engineer, Georg Schwarzbeck, founded the Georg Schwarzbeck Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG. in Pinneberg.
